Consiglio 3rd Bulldog to Sign National Letter of Intent
|
Senior Anthony Consiglio signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his education and baseball career at Dixie State College of Utah. Consiglio was named 1st Team All Sunset last spring as a 3rd baseman where he hit .435 with 4 homeruns. This summer Consiglio established himself as a pitcher and posted a 7-2 record with a 3.12 ERA and was the winning pitcher in the Bulldogs only State playoff game this summer. Consiglio played for the Las Vegas Cardinal Scout Team this fall and pitched 15 innings and struck out 18 in that time and hit .279 this fall. Consiglio's received a 100% scholarship to attend Dixie State College. Consiglio chose Dixie over Cal State Northridge, Cal State Bakersfield, University of California at San Diego, Loyola Marymount, Kansas State, and Western Nevada Community College.
As a junior college, Dixie State college won the NJCAA National Championship in 2004 and were ranked number 1 in the country three times in the last 9 years. Dixie State now competes at the Division 2 level and will become part of the University of Utah branch in March of 2009. Head Coach Mike Littlewood has a college winning percentage of .791 and has been named Regional and District Coach of the Year four times in five years at Dixie State. Coach Littlewood's coaching accomplishments include 2004 National Junior College Champions and the 2000 Western Baseball League Champions. Coach Martinez played at Dixie College from 1998-2000.
Congratulations to the Sammy Friend (UNLV), Troy Hunter (Dixie State College of Utah) , and Anthony Consiglio (Dixie State College of Utah) for earning their scholarships.

2009 Baseball Schedule Released

The 2009 baseball schedule has been released for the Centennial Bulldogs. The varsity team will open up in St. George Utah on March 12th as they compete in the Marshall Gates Classic. This will mark the first time the Bulldogs have not opened their season in Yuma, AZ. The Bulldogs will also compete in the Durango Spring Bash from April 6-8 and be a host site. The Bulldogs non conference schedule will feature 9 teams who qualified for the playoffs last season. Also on the schedule, the Bulldogs will face Pine View, UT who was the Utah State Runner up, Wooster, NV who finished 3rd in their conference last year, Faith Lutheran who has won the 3A state title 2 times in the last 3 years, and Pahrump Trojans who were the 3A State Runner ups a year ago. The Bulldogs compete in the Sunset Northwest division and have won the conference 6 of the last 7 seasons. Coach Cerrone has a career record of 214-111 as the only head coach for Centennial.

Alumni Game/Golf Tournament Weekend

The Centennial HS baseball team will be hosting their 3rd annual golf tournament at Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort on Saturday January 24th. Check in begins at 8am and shotgun start begins at 9:30am. Lunch and awards will follow in the clubhouse at the conclusion of the golf tournanment. Entry fee includes: green fee, golf cart, player gift bags, lunch after tournament in clubhouse and eligibility to win individual and team prizes. Unique prizes will be raffled off, along with the longest drive and closest to the pin. HIT A HOLE IN ONE ON DESIGNATED HOLE, AND WIN A CAR!!!!!
The 2009 Bulldog baseball season is fast approaching. We hope you'll be part of the excitement. The Bulldog Golf Classic is a major fundrasiser for the baseball program.
